Facts about the Institute of Osteopathy

  • The first state-licensed education in osteopathy in Russia.
  • In 2008, SPbSU and SPbMAPS combined their efforts in the preparation of high-qualified osteopathic doctors by signing a cooperation agreement.
  • The education provided at the Institute of Osteopathy of St. Petersburg Medical Academy of Post-Graduate Studies (SPbMAPS) and St. Petersburg State University (SPbSU) meets international standards. Upon graduation, students can pass examinations at various European osteopathic schools.
  • The Institute created a strong teacher corps, consisting of more than 20 well-known Russian and foreign teachers.
  • We train osteopathic physicians with a higher education in specializations: pediatrics, neurology, therapy, traumatology and orthopedics.
  • For the first time in Russia the Institute of Osteopathy offers internship on osteopathy and manual medicine.
  • The Institute regularly organizes a three-day postgraduate seminars with the noted European osteopaths. The Institute encourages its students to attend at least 2 workshops per year to maintain their level of proficiency and develop their skills.

  • In 2009, the Russian president signed a decree on the unique status of the St. Petersburg State University. This has opened up new prospects for the development of public education in osteopathy.
  • Graduates of the Institute are called-for in the best public and private clinics in the country. Many of the graduates continued their osteopathic career as a teachers of osteopathy and manual medicine.
  • In 2010, the Institute celebrated its 10 anniversary. It was the anniversary of the Russian state licensed osteopathic education.
  • For 10 years we have prepared more than 200 osteopaths, among them professors, doctors of science, heads of departments.

  • In 2010 at the initiative of the Institute of Osteopathy was established a self-regulatory organization of Osteopaths of Russia.
